Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land announced Monday that 7.28 million Michigan residents have registered to vote, or about 95.5 percent of the voting age population.
Registration has climbed slowly throughout the year. The deadline to register for the Nov. 2 election was Oct. 4.
In Oakland County, voter registrations have risen from 887,234 in January to 900,367 this month, an increase of nearly 1.5 percent.
Voters on Nov. 2 are choosing a new governor and lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, state supreme court justices, members of Congress, state senators, state representatives, and local school and city, village and township officers. Voters will also see numerous ballot questions, depending on where they live.
